Nutritional Needs.

3rd month: Mamsa dhatu (muscle tissue) matures by the end of the third month. To support strength and structural support of your little one, milk with 1/2 teaspoon of honey and 1 teaspoon of ghee is recommended throughout the month. More than just the muscle tissue, mamsa dhatu forms courage, strength, self-confidence, and fortitude. Your body is the expressive vehicle of your Soul.

Muscles are built from the elements of earth and fire, and then motivated by air. To support the earth element through diet this month, focus on consuming grains, nuts, and legumes as well as cooking with warming spices.

According to Ayurveda, the baby’s five senses develop one month at a time over five consecutive  months of pregnancy. It is a tradition that there is a celebration during each one of these months, bringing extra attention to nourish the specific sense that is developing as the focus of the party. As mama’s senses are engaged, baby develops a keen sense and the ability to perceive through it clearly.

Third Month: Sense of Sight

During this month’s celebration, we want everything mama sees to be aesthetically pleasing and beautiful!

Ideas for the celebration: Decorate using lots of color, or perhaps host the celebration in a beautiful garden. Have extravagant floral arrangements. For activities, do art projects such as water coloring images for baby’s room, tie-dyeing onesies, painting squares to put together as a quilt, etc.
