Soften: Herbal Sitz Baths
Bathing in pure organic linden flowers + leaves is a traditional practice in Ayurveda to prepare the perineal tissues for birth. These flowers and leaves will soften your perineal tissues, promote relaxation, reduce inflammation - and you can use your time in your herbal baths to begin to bring your energy inwards, so that you will be equipped with the deep focus that is necessary during labor & birth. Linden trees are known traditionally as “the tree of lovers” and are said to remove obstacles to unconditional love.
Suggested Use: Steep ⅓ cup of herbs in a large french press for 10 minutes, then pour into a sitz bath basin, or the bottom of your tub. Add warm/cool water as needed to adjust the temperature. Immerse the pelvis and perineal tissues into the herbal bath water and soak for 20 minutes. Do this at least 2-3 times per week starting at 35 weeks of pregnancy. When you begin labor, you can use the remaining herbs to steep an herbal bath to soak in during labor, or add to your birthing tub.
Optional add ons:
Pour in organic heavy cream to your sitz bath basin or bath tub.
Add 10 drops of lavender and/or rose essential oils.
Ingredients: Linden (Tilia sp.) flowers and leaves*, Chamomile (Matricaria recutita) flowers *Organic.
